Compromise

Man and Bible

There is a massive spiritual crisis happening, it has been unfolding over time. More and more Christians are compromising their Christian beliefs with their worldly beliefs.

Over the past few months I have been praying for God to make my heart bleed for what makes His heart bleed. It is a far more bold prayer than I realise. I have been praying this because I want my heart to align with God’s – in justice, bringing hope, mercy and freedom.

The reason it is a bold prayer is because I am finding my heart heavy hearing certain things happening to friends of mine and in the world – adultery, rape, murder and oppression. Slowly but surely God is molding my heart

I read an article called “The Deadly Deception of Sexual Atheism in the Church”

This article has further spurred my heart to act because an increasing number of Christians are looking away from the Bible and to the world for answers and solutions. It burns my heart that more and more Christians are looking to compromise their beliefs because of what the world says or the pressures society brings.

“Christian singles between the ages of 18 to 59 were asked, “Would you have sex before marriage?” The response? Sixty-three percent of the single Christian respondents indicated yes.”

That is a MASSIVE number. As more Christians succumb under pressure, more Christians around them will feel added pressure. This behaviour enforces a culture of allowing godly beliefs to be compromised.

There is a key relationship between prayer utilized less and more beliefs compromised. It is no mere coincidence. Less people are reading the Bible and praying; perhaps some reason are: they are distracted, busy, misprioritise, overconfident in their own belief, or don’t give the Bible much authority.

We need to know that God has an incredible life planned for it, but it is not without its challenges, trials and issues. However, we are delaying this life by compromising our belief and our relationship with Christ.

Christians need to make a stand and put the stake in the ground to anchor their beliefs. Christians need to be a conscious decision and think about what they believe in and why. Too often than not, many Christians shallowly believe in what God because they have been taught it by others; until someone challenges those said beliefs

Hosea 4:6 – My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.

This verse was a cog in what motivated me to discover God further. I don’t want to miss out on what God has because I never took the initiative of knowing my Creator. I pray that this post will create the urgency for you to reassess your relationship with God and what you truly believe in life; because opposition will always challenge you. We need to create a teachable heart but one that is able to discern the truth.

Here are some keys to understand so our faith and conviction is strengthened:

1.  Prayer is the supply line to battle

We are clearly in a supernatural warfare, yet we don’t think of using our biggest tool. Prayer brings action, solution and power. Prayer breathes life into our situations. The power of prayer is underrated and the tool that we need to turn to first. Before we open our mouths to complain, we need to pray solutions prophetically, before we drop our heads in defeat, we need to declare the power of Jesus name. Prayer is as powerful as we utilize it.

2. Bible Reading is the substance of our faith

The heart of God is within the words we read in the Bible. Too much of the time we approach the bible with our own agenda, shading our views and intentions. We need to allow God to speak to us with his agenda because when we do so, we can allow God to teach us to understand certain things in life. This is where wisdom comes in. God brings explosive revelation when we embark in his presence and read his word. This allows us to build our faith on a strong foundation. Lack of Bible Reading = Lack of Conviction because we are not feeding ourselves.

Josh 1:8 – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it

The Bible serves to teach us, build us, restore us and equip us as we grow in this world. The Bible is the navigator that helps us discern what is truth and what is not.

3. Faith comes first, Knowledge comes second

I approach the Bible and God knowing it has utmost authority. Saying this, I will bring up questions to God’s teaching in order for God to reveal to me either my misunderstanding or lack of understanding. This allows God to build my conviction of his Word and Message. Everything I do or say is through faith. With this, knowledge of God comes through with clarity. Giving God the authority allows me to know that God has it under control and he knows more than I do. It keeps me humble and convicted in his teaching.

Psalms 1:1-3 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

Compromised beliefs is a huge spiritual issue in today’s society for Christians. One that needs to be combated by prayer and meditation of His Word. What is your belief and what is it dictated by? If we are to bring the truth to the world, we need to know and encounter the truth ourselves.

Note: apologizing for this poorly constructed post, it is an outpouring rush of thoughts, emotion and words from my heart! I hope it is somewhat coherent!
